Bridal Beauty Tips from a Professional Beauty Expert

We asked TEAM Hair and Makeup Creative Director and Founder Mar Romero her top beauty tips for brides. Here's what she had to say:

1. When hiring a professional TEAM to beautify you and your bridal party, do your research! Look for reviews, featured weddings and ask your photographer and planner for referrals. There are many artist out there, however, bridal styling is not always about pastel makeup and tight updos. Find a person or company who specializes in wedding styling and who is experienced when working with brides.

2. When you do find your Dream TEAM, ask a lot of questions..... How long have they been in business? Are they licensed and insured? Do they have a location? A website? Customer service is key in any business, however for your wedding day be sure they are dependable! Each year we receive a handful of very last minute brides requesting our services because the person or company they hired was a no show or simply went out of business! Always make sure you have a written agreement too!

3. Have a trial! Not just a meeting but an actual "show and tell" session. Never accept a makeup artist or hair stylist saying " oh it will look good on your wedding day" if they can't give ya what you want at your trial chances are they wont be able to at your wedding either! Take photos, if they aren't. Be sure you know exactly what to expect come wedding day.

4. During your trial, ask for options. A talented and experienced artist will want to show you what they can do in conjunction with your ideas! Now is the time to play and try new things to see which style will make you feel the most beautiful.

5. It's always a good idea to have a facial before your wedding day, only to exfoliate and at least 7 days from your wedding. Peels and extraction facials are a process and not recommended for the wedding week.

6. Wax on, wax off! Any waxing must be done at least 5 days out. If you have your brows waxed to close to your day, your eye makeup will not hold! If you have a professional artist they can touch up your brows with minor tweezing if needed.

7. Don't spray tan, if you haven't tried it out before! Just like a trial for your hair and makeup, try out at least two different spray tan options. Some tans have an orange under tone which is ok for deeper skin tones, however if you are fair you will look like a tangerine! For fair skin tones go with a spray tan artist who uses a bronze undertone formula. Have your tan applied 2-3 days prior to avoid a tanning residue on your dress! Yikes!

8. The evening before your wedding do moisturize! Avoid the eye are and really massage your moisturizer into your skin for a dewy healthy glow come wedding day!

9. Don't drink champagne on an empty stomach, oj with champagne isn't breakfast! If bread is not your friend, it is on the morning of your wedding. A little toast or bagel will fill your tummy allowing you for that one celebratory mimosa! Do eat a healthy breakfast and don't be afraid to have your hair and makeup done in time for an early lunch. If your beauty services are done by a professional your hair and makeup will last!

10. Do have fun! Enjoy getting ready! If your bridesmaids are late or your dear mother in law to be is still insisting on that tight, pulled back ballerina bun or your flowers show up orange instead of pink......just take a moment to breathe and enjoy the fact that you have found Mr. Right and today is the start of your life together!
